Description:

Showcasing more than 35 species of animals and some 40 species of plant life in a 15-acre forested setting, the Amarillo Zoo educates visitors about animals native to West Texas’ high plains region. In addition, it features an Australian-themed exhibit and an exhibit devoted to big cats. It is located in Thompson Park, which is north of Amarillo on U.S. Highway 287.
